Role Description The Experienced Tax Preparer is a Part-time, seasonal, on-site role located in Myrtle Beach, SC, responsible for preparing accurate individual and small business tax returns. Day-to-day tasks include meeting with clients to gather tax-related information, analyzing financial documents, and ensuring compliance with current federal, state, and local tax laws. The role involves reviewing prior-year returns, identifying potential credits and deductions, and explaining tax outcomes and options in clear, accessible language. The Experienced Tax Preparer will also maintain detailed records, support clients during tax audits or inquiries, and contribute to a welcoming office environment that aligns with Liberty Tax’s customer-focused culture. This position may assist with seasonal office promotions and outreach to build strong relationships with the local community.

Qualifications

• Strong tax preparation skills, including experience preparing individual and small business tax returns (Tax Preparation, Tax).
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply relevant tax laws and regulations in practical scenarios (Tax Law).
• Competence in reviewing and understanding financial documents such as income statements and expense reports (Financial Statements, Finance).
• Previous experience in a tax office, accounting firm, or related financial services environment.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and commitment to accuracy and compliance.
• Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax matters in simple terms.
• Proficiency with tax preparation software and basic office computer applications.
• Relevant certification or coursework (e.g., IRS Annual Filing Season Program, Enrolled Agent, or equivalent experience) preferred.
• Ability to work on-site during peak tax seasons, including evenings and weekends as needed.
